Rew Thalu Rew
Beyond the fiction.
Dun Chupong lays down his life on his master Panna Rittikrai’s posthumous work. This is their and the world cinema’s monument. The all actions created by Muay Thai Stunt are superlative as usual, but the risk of life is more real. They never accept deceiving the audience and themselves though this is a fiction. This is literally the ultimate.

Panna Rittikrai’s posthumous work
10 years after Kerd Ma Lui in 2004, Dan Chupong is again the leading actor of a film directed by his master Panna Rittikrai. The bonds between the disciple and his master are forever strong.
Panna Rittikrai stated that the only Muay Thai based actor comparable with Tony Jaa is Dan Chupong. It’s widely known that Dan Chupong and Tony Jaa were the fellow student of the group Muay Thai Stunt formed by him.
Just before the ending, Dan Chupong was hit by the running cars again and again. This cruel stunt was done by only himself, not by the multiple stunt doubles. It’s never be realized without the ultimate trust between the actor and the director. Dan Chupong was actually laying down his life on Panna Rittikrai’s posthumous work. This is beyond the fiction.
Just from the beginning, the film brought me a big surprise and excitement. A football match, the brawl allowed. This opening directly introduces the outstanding physical ability of the protagonists without the tedious explanations. It’s perfectly effective.
Dan Chupong was 33 years old in this film, but he looks much younger. He was born in 23 March 1981 in Kalasin. Kalasin is a province of the region specially called Isan. Khon Fai Bin is a story of Isan and filmed there.
He had to fight against his master in Khon Fai Bin. Muay Thai Stunt members hit each other in real on a fight scene. Naturally, Panna Rittikrai never allowed his disciples to ease up even they fight over their master. Dan Chupong confessed at an interview that he had been deeply feeling guilty while the final battle shooting because it was like hurting his father.
Dan Chupong and Japan
He already visited Japan two times for the promotion of his starring films such as Kerd Ma Lui and Khon Fai Bin. His stage greeting in a cinema of Tokyo is included in Japanese version Khon Fai Bin DVD’s bonus chapters. Khun Phan and IB Ntsais Muang 2 in 2016 are not released in Japan yet.
I know only 14 Thai action films yet, but at least, the all Panna Rittikrai participated and Prachya Pinkaew related films were supreme. I simply believe that an action title produced by Sahamongkol Film will bring me a huge energy for tomorrow.
People can remember well Dan Chupong’s macabre "Crow Ghost" in Ong Bak 3. This character is shocking at the same time beautiful. It’s a sort of "Thai Gothic". He emerged in before the ending of Ong Bak 2, and easily destructed Tien in an instant. That was just a notice of the further disaster coming up.
Whether the influence of Crow Ghost or not, Dun Chupong played an antihero again. This time, he is the assassin Natee. He is processing the target by his client’s request. He is learning how to take revenge on his sworn enemy who killed his parents while executing the assassinations. The story in Film noir genre. Some of gun fight scenes are described in a way like FPS. It was somewhat experimental, but thrilling.
Influence from Hong Kong cinema
We often discover the obvious influence from Hong Kong cinema in a Panna Rittikrai’s film, and it’s confirmed by himself. The brawl on a running train reminds me of Police Story 3: Super Cop. At the final battle, Natee appears in a long coat with the sunglasses and the guns in each hand. This is a typical homage of Chow Yun-fat in A Better Tomorrow.
Red Cargo in 2018
According to IMDb, Dan Chupong’s latest film will be Red Cargo in 2018. It’s quite interesting that the name of JeeJa Yanin is also there. However, it’s not sure at all if they will be in this film as I see from the official Facebook page. The pre-production poster in 2016 officially introduced the story by this phrase: A Zulu dancer versus Thailand drug lord. No kidding. I’m just waiting for the release of this eccentric film!
Ex brother and sister
The first big battle is coming around 45 minutes past. Natee against Jay, thus Dan Chupong against Kessarin Ektawatkul. We know well that Kessarin Ektawatkul is a former national champion in Taekwondo, once played a sister of Dan Chupong in Kerd Ma Lui. Now, they are enemy each other.
Jay assaulted over Natee in a factory. Their fight scene is fierce. Kessarin Ektawatkul is also thrown to the wall and slammed down to the ground several times. The conclusion of their struggle to the death is merciless. It’s literally dramatic. I can’t forget it.
The fighting way of Natee in the factory is unique, at the same time incredibly tough. Natee uses everything in a factory as his weapon. For example, a chain hook, fan, car number plate, anything turns into his executional tool. These are purely original ideas, on the other hand, the actors had the huge risk to suffer serious injury. The actions of This film are not only exciting, but also extremely accurate.
Jay is fabulous
Kessarin Ektawatkul plays a villain, and unfortunately disappears in the middle of the story. However, her character is impressive. Her costume, makeup and hairstyle are gorgeous. She is just fabulous in this film. As I know, she is also in my favourite Somtum. She appears as a hot-blooded papaya vendor. I saw Suay Samurai too. This film could have been exciting if she were the first heroine.
The world’s top martial arts actor is the most intensely discussed subject for Thai cinema, but Thai actress must be a hot topic at the same time. The heroine of this film is magnificent Nisachon Tuamsoongnern. Her name in Thai is นิศาชล ต้วมสูงเนิน.
She appears first in theatrical costume with blonde hair wig. Her beauty was already remarkable, but after taking off the costume, her charm was accelerated by black hair and a casual fashion. No wonder, she is one of "The Miss Thailand Wolrd 2013" queens.
She is a little too thin, but irresistibly fascinating. She has a cute cat-like face and her legs are visibly long. She reminds me of a supermodel Nadja Auermann. She really gave me a fresh surprise.
She was born in 24 April 1993 in Udon Thani. She was 21 years old in this film, and this is her only film appearance for the moment. Unfortunately for a fan like me, she is mainly working in Thai TV series. I don’t know if these series are available outside of Thailand except legally or illegally uploaded stuff on the video sharing websites.
Nisachon Tuamsoongnern in TV series
The source from Wikipedia. The title translation by Google Translate. As I don’t know Thai language, I’m not sure if it’s correct or not.
Chatchapol Kulsiriwuthichai who was the protagonist of Bangkok Knockout plays a character named "Pod" again. The character name is same, but he is this time a villain. This character is stylish though it’s a little regrettable that he was not a hero. We can see his other side of acting. He was mainly a stunt performer in previous Panna Rittikrai’s films. He might be a member of Muay Thai Stunt.
Nantawut Boonrubsub known from Power Kids plays a younger brother of Natee as second hero. I saw him for the first time, I don’t know Power Kids yet. He is actually a strong martial arts actor. He must be a new Thai action star, but I don’t find enough information about his recent activities.
Another remarkable actors
The most sensational character in this film is obviously "C Fu". Supposedly, the most Asian cinema fans could recognize that his name directly means "Master" in Chinese. I don’t know anything about the actor, Ooi Teik Huat. It seems difficult to find his career detail on the Internet, but it’s clear that he is an elder master of Kung Fu. He is also taking the action choreographer of this film.
Kazu Patrick Tang is also in this film as Chai’s henchman. Chatchapol Kulsiriwuthichai and him are together again since Bankok Kockout. He sometimes appears in a minor role. However, he has enough talent to play a key role in a story. It was well proved in Deu Suay Doo.
